On the way to shop in Chefchaouen, Morocco, I glanced down and saw the kitten curled up, asleep. Saddened by her forlorn looks, I wanted to pick her up and take her home. All of a sudden, shopping seemed less important.

I would have had a hard time walking on too! Such a sweet little thing. Saw the same thing in Greece, there are lots of stray kitties there on the islands, and I wished I could take some home. But I was happy to see a local man putting down a dish of cat food for one of them, so at least some people look after them. I hope they promote the spay/neuter and release there too.

It does make you feel a whole lot better when you realize the local people are caring for them. It is so hard when you see the number of homeless strays.

Oh that sweet little thing! It’s so sad seeing poorly animals. I always end up making friends with the wildlife when I travel and I don’t think I could have walked past this little kittie without giving her a cuddle.

We struggle with that too. The cats especially as sometimes the dogs are more on the move and you can’t get close to them… and maybe that is actually a good thing.

Bittersweet photo. We always feel a tug of heartstrings while traveling when we see scenes like these — we now donate to a couple different Puerto Rican spay-neuter-rescue organizations as a result of our travels and observing all the homeless animals there. We feel we’re doing what we can, then, even if we can’t take them home.

I agree that the poor little thing looks a bit worse for wear … especially at such a young age.
I’m a total pushover for a homeless, neglected cat. My highly territorial cat, Theo, keeps me from being a cat hoarder.

They are the ultimate survivors … they know exactly the right amount of cute to turn on to get what they want.
… or maybe Theo just has me so hopelessly wrapped around his paw 😉

I would have felt the same..I would want to take her home, feed her and clean her up. As I age I am getting oh so more sensitive…to the world and around me.. Just think that she was noticed and loved for that moment…

I always struggle with this when I travel. We are soon moving to Cairo and there are tons of stray cats there… I can just picture what might happen… I will become the cat lady!

We have four cats that were strays.. Our oldest might be about thirteen or fourteen, and then two that are five and our youngest is three. There is one bully and it is not fun. She is jealous of Riley the youngest. Anyway I will have to go to your blog and read up on your adventures. Wow..I live a pretty sheltered life.. Safe travels to you.. ps no more cats as it makes it a challenge to get away..

Yes, good advice. I will try to decline on bringing them home. It sounds like you have a very busy life with 4 strays and keeping them all content. Good for you for doing so.
