Loving and Losing Jazmin: A Sad Day

I am without words today.

This rarely happens.

After weeks of preparing in my head, I couldn’t prepare my heart.

We said goodbye to Jazmin today. Our beloved barky, smart, sensitive and playful Sheltie that brought us many moments of joy and today, puddles of tears.

Our home is forever changed.

Acutely aware of every bark in our neighborhood, I want to hide under the covers and wait for the sadness to dissipate.

I may be there for a while.

Oh – I just saw this. I came by your blog because I hadn’t seen you in a couple of days and I find this horribly sad news. I am so very sorry, it is so hard to lose such an important member of the family. We lost Newman our Great Dane over three years ago and even now I tear up as I type this about him. I hope your children are faring okay through all of this, it must be very hard on them. Again, my belated condolences.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it. This week has been better than the last one but there are still moments that it is really hard. Blogs about dogs, people walking them, barking in the neighborhood… I guess it will get easier with time.

Aww that’s so sad. Dogs have so much personality and they’re a member of your family rather than just a pet. Hope you and your family are doing okay. Just remember all the happy memories you had together 🙂

I’m so sorry to hear. Your kids must be so upset as well. We have a 13 year old dog and I see him slow down and I dread the time when we’ll lose him as well. Under covers seems s good place to be.

Yes, it is a major loss and blow to our family. They play such an important role and you don’t even know how much, until they are gone. We were trying to hold onto her untll we moved to Egypt but just couldn’t. It wasn’t fair to her.

Oh Cheryl…I am so sad for you:( I had to put our dog down 6 years ago and it still upsets me today. Our dogs do become members of our families and we mourn them the same as losing people. Thinking about you…

Oh Cheryl, my heart breaks for you and your family. Until Theo entered our lives 4 years ago, I couldn’t begin to imagine how huge the loss would be to lose a furry-faced member of the family. I’m so very, very sad for you. Hugs.

Thank you so much for the words. It is so incredibly hard and I wasn’t expecting it to be this “bad” but it is a raw kind of hurt. Your words help. They truly become a member of the family.

We stop thinking of them as ‘just a pet’. They are so much more … that’s why it’s just a painful loss.

Yes, the breeder had kept her to show her as there were good genes in the family but then she went oversize so we got her. Our lucky break. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.
