1. The Practice Run
When we went to the Toronto airport to pick up Abby, we happened to see the Egypt Air flight leaving Toronto bound for Cairo. As my husband watched it go down the runway, he decided he would do a practice run to see what this will feel like when we fast forward to August when Jade and I are actually on that flight.
After the flight took off and was out of sight, Chris reported that the practice run didn’t go too well. 😦 On the positive side, we know that we will be dearly missed and loved while we are away. 🙂
2. Abby’s New Blog
My stepdaughter, Abby loves photography and has just started her own blog Just A Quick Snap. This means sunsets, sunrises and a whole new view on looking at the world. Special moments like eating sub sandwiches by the waterfront as we look for photo opportunities make life extra meaningful. Doesn’t the small and simple stuff always stand out in the end? Even if it has to take place at 5 AM in the morning?
3. A New Friend
When did making friends become like dating? I am sure when I was in school, there was zero thought about how to make friends. As you get older, this becomes more complicated. Will we have anything in common? What should I wear? What if I get something caught in my teeth while I am eating? What if we have that awkward silent moment? Anyway as I was going to meet a new friend yesterday for lunch, I realized that my students have it so much easier. Oh to be back in grade 3!
(A special thanks to the wonderful blog, Nerd in the Brain who is the mastermind of Three Things Thursday.)

Best of luck to Abby on her blog! And making friends? Yikes! I don’t even want to think about it.

I know. Too bad it seems to get harder as we get older or does a whole bunch of stuff just get harder as we get older?!

I’m not sure. I think part of it might be that some people are pretty well set and aren’t looking for new friends, making it a bit harder.

Love the photo of the plane so low to the ground and the sunrise photo taken by your stepdaughter. It is so nice that she is learning to see the world through the lens of a camera. Everything looks so different and you can go from wide lens to close up to bring in the detail. I agree that finding friends as an adult is very difficult, especially trying to find someone in the same place and state of mind, with a similar schedule and free time.

Thank you! I think as I get older, I tend to be “out of practice” making friends until I have to when I move again. It is wonderful to see the world a little more closely when you begin to take photos.

Thanks for sharing the link to Abby’s blog. I shall follow. We share the love for sunrises and sunsets.
How interesting the thoughts on number 3. I haven’t ever thought about that.
Have a lovely weekend!

She is very young but she loves photography and is just beginning to learn. She will learn from seeing other photography blogs such as your’s. Have a great weekend too.

Sunrises and sunsets are so poignant! I always mean to catch more of them, but I’m usually too lazy to wake up for one and too busy working for the other.

I know. I don’t think I would get up for a sunrise either unless I was kind of “forced” to do so. Having seen both in the last day, I realize I have been missing out.

I found it when i started to follow Nerd in the Brain. I guess she developed it and then have seen it around a few times since. It helps to categorize my thoughts for at least one day!!! 🙂

#3 is so true. I thought it was just me worrying about such things with new friends. Glad to know that I’m not alone.
