Weekly Photo Challenge: Half Here Half There

A love lock to represent that I will still be half here when I am half there. (I will soon be leaving my husband to work in Cairo. He is not able to come since his work is in Canada and mine is in Egypt. We will be far apart but together at heart.)

    I also like the symbolism of the bars. You have to cross over them, or past them before you can get to the stream or lushness of the banks. Beautiful photo. My thoughts are with all of you. ❤

    Wow. I too didn’t realize it was just you and your daughter going. My family was geographically dysfunctional too because of jobs, school etc – but it worked, because it had to work, But it meant our times together were so much more special and appreciated. And you have to do what you have to do when the right job comes along.

      Thanks. My daughter is so excited to go so this makes it more possible for us as we want to give her that opportunity to live in another country. And I miss teaching so much and it just isn’t possible here where we are living so we are looking at it from those two angles.

        It sounds like a great adventure. I think living in different countries is so important when you are younger. I think it just makes you more accepting of the way others live and makes you more adaptable. And it is really COOL!!!!! And you have great stories to tell later on life!!!!

        Thanks. You understand that part with your experiences as well. I am hopeful that the positives outweigh the negatives. And in the meantime, an experience is an experience. And I tend to strive for those more than other things.

        Absolutely – like my Mum says – one must offer their children a diverse and broad range of experiences. The homesickness and the missing family part is hard, but it is quickly forgotten once everyone is together. However the memories of the adventure will always remain.

      Yup… really hoping soon. That is one of the advantages of being placed in Egypt is that it is so central to many other areas of the world.

    I hope that it won’t be too hard for you. Being separated from our love can be so straining psychologically, but then again it often strengthens the relationship and the love within.

      Thanks so much. So true. I do need to work and the combination of travel and work is a great one for us right now so we are trying to look at it in a positive light as it approaches.

    That will be hard. Now I understand…I was confused about who was going to Egypt and why. With social media maybe it won’t be so bad…but it will still be hard.

      Yes it will be hard. One of our daughters is coming with me and Chris, my husband will join us at Xmas for the holidays. His dream job is in Canada and teaching jobs in this area of Canada are nil.
