Welcome to Four Camels and a Coffee To Go,

This is the story of our blended family in Canada and what happens when 2 (addicted to travel) meet 4 (didn’t know they were addicted to travel) = 6; all of whom now love to travel! One, some or all of us have gone from Canada to Cambodia, Maine to Morocco, Pleasant Bay to Peru, Greece to Guatemala, USA to Uganda, Italy to India and hopefully many more destinations in our future. Join us as our blended family continues their journey as 2 of us spread out to Egypt while 4 remain in Canada – we may be far apart but we are still close in our hearts 🙂

2. The Longer but Still Sweet Version

Welcome to Four Camels and a Coffee To Go,

My name is Cheryl and I am a mom, an obsessed traveller and a teacher. I used to be many things such as a lawyer, a United Nations volunteer, an English teacher, a youth justice worker but most importantly, I was always a traveller.

I began travelling when I was in high school when I took 2 European trips to Greece, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. From that point on, I was hooked. When I finished high school, I did a Rotary exchange and lived in Holland for a year while I attended school and worked at a Turkish day care.

Through out university, I went to Suriname, French Guiana, Trinidad and Belize via Canadian Crossroads International. When I finished my degrees and was officially a lawyer, I worked with the UN in Cambodia for a year setting up the country for its first election since the Killing Fields years. After returning to Canada for a short stint at CARE Canada, I returned to South Africa and Mozambique to work with the UN again.

After that, I taught English in South Korea, travelled again through southeast Asia (Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand), lived in Lesotho (visited Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa), and then returned to Canada to settle down and raise a family. I ended up in Prince Edward Island and became a teacher. I taught for 9 years and there, I met Chris and we began to raise our 4 girls together.

Through the years, we have travelled together as a family to the States (NYC, Boston, Florida), throughout Canada as well as to Guatemala, Holland, Morocco, Colombia and Peru. We have survived a sandstorm in the Sahara, an invasion of red ants in the Guatemalan jungle, the most dangerous snake in Peru and the invasion of the cowboys in Jardin, Colombia.

Presently, our blended family is extra mixed up as 2 of us live in Cairo where I teach at an international school and 4 of us remain in Canada.
