H is for Happy

We have a blended family with 4 girls. That is a LOT of girls; at least in my books. Usually we gel but sometimes we rebel. At least a few of us that is.

Now in this blended family, I am the one who likes to stir the pot, mash things up.

We were supposed to do the usual in Niagara Falls. Which we did.

The usual version of seeing Niagara Falls on the Maid of the Mist boat.

The usual version of seeing Niagara Falls on the Maid of the Mist boat.

But for me, that was simply not enough.

I had eyed a helicopter. A helicopter makes me very happy.

A perk from my old United Nations days was flying in helicopters. I even loved being evacuated in a helicopter.

But…what makes one happy 🙂 makes another unhappy 😦

Enter: our blended family.Three of us were on board and two of us were standing ground.

If you are the “on board” type, then get yourself to a helicopter to fly over Niagara Falls pronto. As teens say, EPIC! The helicopter is all glass so the experience and the views take you out of this world and even more importantly, out of the tacky town attached to such beauty.

In fact, it was the most fun I have ever had in North America. A short, expensive kind of fun but exhilarating and worth every Canadian dollar – which is worth less and less; great news if you are an American tourist however.

Happy soaring from Cheryl and only a part of the Family C, moving rapidly from A to Z.

I love Niagara, tacky as it can be.
    🙂
Never did this particular tourist attraction because I am visually impaired and unable to justify paying if I can’t make full use of the spectacular views, but I would still not rule it out, just for the experience alone. Hawaii from above sounds pretty cool.

Yes, our kids loved all the attractions in Niagara. The experience even of going up is so different from a plane. I really prefer it much more than flying; which I don’t really like.

Ha! I’ll admit… the town of Niagara Falls is a bit tacky. But the falls are so gorgeous, I don’t think anyone minds! The helicopter ride sounds like a blast!

Yes, I highly recommend it. But then again, I would like a helicopter ride anywhere. Even over the prairies 🙂

    Hi,
Very nice. I’ve heard a helicopter ride is fun, but I’ll pass on that one.

Oh, what fun! I have a fear of heights but want to learn how to fly a helicopter. Strange, eh?

I think I get that. I don’t really like flying too much but I have so loved helicopters and would love to learn how to fly them too.

Helicopters are the BEST! We did a helicopter tour in Kauai, and it was just spectacular. But the best was the tour at the Grand Canyon, where we came over the rim and landed at the bottom for a whitewater rafting trip. Just amazing!

Oh, that would make me want to see the Grand Canyon for that reason alone!

If you ever get a chance to do it, I highly recommend it – it always goes on my list of “coolest things I have done while traveling.”

I would like to go back to the Grand Canyon some day just to have the helicopter ride … I couldn’t afford it the first time and felt deep regret 🙂
Whitewater rafting at the bottom sounds amazing too!

Yes, it does sound like an unbelievable day of adventure! Too bad it does cost a lot.. as we realized with Niagara Falls.

We did the helicopter thing on the Big Island of Hawaii to see the volcanoes. Worth. Every. Dollar!

The whitewater rafting was amazing (but it kind of paled in comparison to the helicopter). I would recommend it as well!
